Why should your club create a blog

This is a sample blog that local 4-H clubs could use to organize their clubs and in turn, market 4-H.  Here are some advantages to using a blog:
  • Officer level blogmaster can be created to manage web content, encourage responsibility and increase technology exposure
    • Club blogmaster could manage younger members' contributions - teach them
    • Learn about Internet responsibility
    • Learn Internet best practices and safety
    • Photo and content editing and judgment reinforced
  • Background image can be customized
  • Up to 10 pages (shown here as tabs) can be created to showcase your club and its efforts
  • Slideshows can be embedded. See the NERVF blog for example
  • Opportunity to put civil rights clauses on pages
  • Helps direct web traffic to state and county 4-H websites
  • Club will get its own Gmail email address. (Leaders don't have to put out their personal email)
  • Comments can be moderated or eliminated
  • Calendar of events can be published
  • Blog can be shared with edit privileges with county agent and state office
  • Projects can be highlighted
  • Community Service can be showcased
  • Safe contact information for public
  • Helps brand 4-H
